Nature recordings are our way of sharing
our passion and love of nature.
We have always had a great love of the bush - our first 'date' was a bushwalk to a mountain waterfall overhanging with tree ferns. That was eighteen years ago, and even though we have been camping and exploring together ever since, it seems we have barely touched the surface of what the world of nature has to show us. Listening to the sounds of the bush is very restful and relaxing. This was our initial inspiration; wondering whether other people would enjoy the sounds of the bush as much as we were. So in 1993, we estabished our business; 'Listening Earth', to share that experience. At the time it seemed an strange thing to do - create CDs without any music on them, but we have followed our hearts, and since then people all around the world have told us how much our recordings mean to them. (For an article about our first years establishing Listening Earth, click here) Every one of our CDs begins with a journey. People often think we have great holidays on our field trips. Well, we certainly enjoy our time exploring nature, but obtaining the quality of material we strive for takes patience and perseverence. We have taught ourselves most of what we know; not only about the bush but also the techniques of our art. We now live surrounded by native bush near the central Victorian town of Castlemaine. In 1999 we moved into our new mud-brick home, and it is from here that we run our office and sound studio, all powered solely by solar electricity!
