About FLAC format

FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is an audio format that compresses the data of a recording, allowing for smaller file sizes and quicker downloads. However, unlike the lossy quality of mp3 files, FLAC preserves the full 16bit/44.1kHz resolution of audio CDs. In other words, it is lossless.

If you order one of our albums in FLAC format, you be downloading a single zip file of around 300mB (our mp3 albums are more in the range of 100mB). Once decompressed using a standard utility (more about decoding), you will have a folder with all the audio files in FLAC format, plus a fingerprint file (to check your files for integrity), documentation and some printable CD artwork.

If you've opted for flac format audio, you probably know what to do with these files. You may prefer to play your FLAC files directly if you have a compatable player. But if not, you'll need to decode them to a suitable format for playing or burning to CDR. This page offers an overview of software for this process.

For further information on flac, playing and decoding files, visit: http://flac.sourceforge.net/

Due to server space limitations, only a selection of our albums are currently available in FLAC format. However, we are happy to add any other albums from our catalogue for you on request. Just email us if the album you want is not visible on the FLAC downloads section of our shop.
